American Savings Bank: Ho’olako Pono Loan Program
After many years of limited financing options for native Hawaiians on Hawaiian Home Lands, American Savings Bank in collaboration with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands is pleased to offer a loan program that offers construction loans and mortgages to DHHL lessees.
With the meaning of “to nourish” and to “make right”, the Ho’olako Pono Loan Program offers expanded financing options to DHHL lessees through convention loans of up to $539,475 with 100% financing available. The one-time close construction loan includes one application, one qualification process, one interest rate, and one closing. Interest rates are fixed and principal and interest payments will not change for the life of the loan. Private mortgage insurance will be provided by Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation.
The loan can be used to purchase a home, finance construction of a new home, or refinance rate and term only – no cash out for an existing home mortgage. Roads and utilities must be accessible to the vacant lot before construction can begin. However, if it is typical for the area to have water catchments and/or generators, then these are acceptable.
Eight hours of home ownership counseling is required as a condition of receiving this loan. For more information on the Ho’olako Pono Loan Program, call American Savings Bank nearest you:
