Ke Kula Niihau O Kekaha is a K-12 Niihau language school. We envision students who are proficient learners in both the Niihau language and English by the time they graduate. Our students become literate in their mother tongue by being taught exclusively in the Niihau language until grade 3. Students begin learning English in a formal setting upon entering grade 4. Thereafter, the curriculum follows a bi-lingual format for grades 4 through 12.

Archiving the Niihau language is of vital concern to our school’s mission therefore, participation in programs like the PBS Hawaii HIKI NO student news program are important learning/teaching venues for our students

To better prepare our students for the future we partner with organizations like the National Tropical Botanical Gardens where our students are given the opportunity to explore a variety of career paths.
