Our Purpose

City and County of Honolulu Rent and Utility Relief Fund featured image

CNHA has partnered with the City & County of Honolulu and Catholic Charities of Hawaii to administer a $114 million dollar Rental and Utility Relief Program to support Honolulu residents impacted by COVID-19.

​If qualified the program can assist residents pay their rent and utility bills for up to 18 months.

Here are the qualifications for the program and the documents needed for an application when the program opens:

Who Can Qualify

  • Oʻahu residents who are renting on-island.
  • Proof of financial hardship during the COVID -19 pandemic, unemployment, or pay reduction.
  • Proof of difficulties paying for rent and utilities.
  • One person per household can apply.
  • Applicants with total household income at or below 80% AMI

Documents Needed to Apply

Documents Needed to Apply

  • Government-issued photo ID.
  • Proof of Oʻahu residency.
  • Rent agreement.
  • Past due rent or utility notice.
  • Previous year’s tax documents or pay stubs of two (2) months most recent income.
  • Proof of COVID-19 pandemic related hardship, such as an Unemployment Insurance letter, or letter of termination from employer.
  • Additional documents may be required.
