Headquartered in Kapolei, Oʻahu, Hawaiian Council is a Native Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) certified by the U.S. Treasury department and a HUD-Certified Housing Counseling agency. We provide access to capital, financial education, and individualized financial counseling services with a focus on low and moderate-income families. Hawaiian Council serves as a National Intermediary, providing grants and loans targeting underserved communities, and community-based organizations in Hawaiʻi.

Head of Content

 

  • Salary range – 75k to 85k
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy aligned with Hawaiian Council’s mission and priorities.

  • Lead planning, creation, editing, and approval of content across press, web, social, and multimedia platforms.

  • Ensure content reflects Hawaiian Council’s authentic Native Hawaiian cultural brand and cultural accuracy.

  • Collaborate with designers, videographers, photographers, and vendors on integrated campaigns.

  • Attend community and cultural meetings and events to inform authentic storytelling.

  • Manage editorial calendars, workflows, and project tracking systems including Asana.

Lū’au Busser / Service Support

 

  • Pay – $18 to $22 hourly
  • Clear plates, glassware, and debris efficiently between courses while maintaining service timing.

  • Reset tables promptly to support continuous, high-volume service.

  • Assists wait-staff with food and beverage delivery as needed.

  • Refill water and support guest hydration in an outdoor setting.

  • Attend community and cultural meetings and events to inform authentic storytelling.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, walkways, and service zones.

  • Monitor cleanliness and readiness of an assigned dining zone.

Lū’au Greeter / Front-of-House Host

 

  • Pay – $22 to $28 hourly
  • Warmly welcome guests upon arrival with professionalism and aloha.

  • Scan tickets or QR codes and manage guest check-in accurately and efficiently.

  • Verify guest information and assist with seating assignments or section direction.

  • Provide clear directions to dining areas, restrooms, bar locations, and amenities.

  • Support smooth guest flow from entry to seating while avoiding congestion.

  • Assist with guest seating and coordinate timing with service teams.

  • Support accessibility needs, including mobility assistance and priority seating.

Lū’au Wait Staff

 

  • Pay – $24 to $30 hourly
  • Serve food to guests from designated food stations according to portion standards, presentation guidelines, and service flow.

  • Provide table service for VIP seating areas, including food and beverage delivery and table maintenance.

  • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with Hawaiʻi laws and venue policies.

  • Explain food offerings, ingredients, and service flow when guests have questions.

  • Monitor guest needs actively throughout the event and respond promptly and professionally.

  • Coordinate with bussers and runners to ensure tables remain clean, stocked, and guest-ready.

  • Maintain clean, organized food stations, serving utensils, and service areas.

Lū’au Team Captain / Lead Staff

 

  • Pay – $28 to $36 hourly
  • Assign staff to positions, sections, and zones based on guest counts, service flow, and
    operational priorities.

  • Supervise bussers, greeters, and wait staff throughout the event.

  • Orient and support new or returning team members prior to service.

  • Reinforce role-specific expectations, service standards, and cultural awareness.

  • Coach staff on resort-level guest interaction, pacing, and professionalism.

  • Monitor service pacing and adjust staffing, assignments, or flow as needed.

Audio Technician (Show Run / Playback)

 

  • Pay – $25 to $35 hourly
  • Operate Yamaha audio consoles for live sound mixing during performances.

  • Run QLab for show playback, tracked audio, click tracks, and cue execution.

  • Execute audio cues accurately according to the run-of-show and production timing.

  • Mix live microphones, vocals, narration, and fully mic’d drums and percussion

  • Coordinate playback timing with drummers, performers, and stage leadership.

  • Conduct pre-show system checks and verify audio readiness.

Lighting Technician (Show Run / Operator)

 

  • Pay – $28 to $38 hourly
  • Operate grandMA lighting consoles to execute pre-programmed cues during live performances.

  • Run lighting cues accurately according to the show sequence and production timing.

  • Monitor lighting output throughout the event and make approved adjustments as needed.

  • Support performance lighting, ambient lighting, and transitions during the lūʻau.

  • Conduct pre-show lighting checks to confirm system readiness.

  • Troubleshoot lighting or control issues quickly during live performances.

Lū’au Stage Manager

 

  • Pay – $30 to $45 hourly
  • Coordinate backstage and on-stage flow throughout the performance

  • Call show cues for audio, lighting, performers, and stage transitions according to the run-of-show.

  • Maintain and execute the production schedule, pacing, and timing.

  • Communicate clearly with audio, lighting, stagehands, performers, and production leadership.

  • Ensure performers are prepared and positioned for entrances, exits, and transitions.

  • Monitor stage readiness and confirm performance areas are clear and show-ready.

Lū’au Operations Director

 

  • Pay – $40 to $60 hourly
  • Develop and manage comprehensive operational timelines, run-of-show checklists, and staffing plans.

  • Coordinate all departments including production, audio, lighting, stage management,
    service, guest services, and facilities.

  • Oversee vendor coordination, load-in/load-out schedules, and service contracts. Ensure venue readiness, site layout accuracy, and logistical flow for guests, staff, and
    performers

  • Maintain oversight of guest experience standards across entry, dining, performance,
    and exit.

  • Lead on-site operations during events and resolve issues in real time. Ensure all teams
    are aligned with schedules, safety protocols, and service expectations.

Local and Group Sales Manager

 

  • Salary range – 65k
  •  Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with over 40 concierge desks, tour desks, and activity resellers across the island.
  • Conduct regular in-person visits, presentations, and product updates to hospitality partners.
  • Provide collateral, promotional materials, and up-to-date booking information to all concierge and front-line partners.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all concierge-related sales activity and issue resolution.
  • Identify, solicit, and close corporate groups, conventions, incentive trips, and private
    performance bookings.
  • Work closely with VCB Convention Sales and other destination marketing organizations to attract group business.
  • Prepare customized proposals, pricing, and presentations for group and private event
    opportunities.

Account Manager

 

  • Salary range – 60k
  • Serve as Von Mack Agency’s designated on-site point person to collaborate with Hawaiian Council’s Director of Sales to support tactical initiatives and ideation under master marketing plan.
  • Facilitate and help maintain an annual marketing calendar that aligns with sales priorities, seasonal campaigns, budgets, and major events.
  • Serve as the central communication hub between Hawaiian Council’s internal departments (sales, operations, leadership) and Von Mack’s account management, creative, and digital teams.

Social Media and Online Presence Specialist

 

  • Salary range – 50k
  • Develop and execute a content calendar that aligns with marketing campaigns, promotions, and brand goals.
  • Create, post, and manage engaging content (photos, videos, stories, captions, etc.) across all active platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, LinkedIn).
  • Capture and curate on-brand visual and written content for social media, email, and web.
  • Oversee website content to ensure accuracy, freshness, and alignment with ongoing promotions and brand updates.

Retail Sales Associate

 

  • Greets and interacts with customers.
  • Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to
  • merchandise.
  • Demonstrates and explains merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for
  • the customer’s needs.

Internships

 

Hawaiian Council accepts interns on a rolling basis throughout the year, with priority application dates for each term below and flexible start dates depending on the internship.

Our program offers hands-on experience, cultural immersion, and a range of tools to support your success. Paid and credit-based internships, as well as student volunteer opportunities, are available in Kapolei and Downtown Honolulu with remote, hybrid, and in-person options depending on the department.

Interns are placed in departments across the organization to ensure their work aligns as closely as possible with their interests.
